THE images provided by Yorkshire Water graphically show that some folk have a long way to go when it comes to domestic cleanliness.

We are not talking about personal hygiene here, just general commonsense to stop our sewers being clogged up in sometimes the most disgusting manner.

One of the images in today’s Examiner shows the enormous amount of fat that people flush down their sinks – probably without a thought or care as to where it ends up.

And the same happens with everything from nappies to baby wipes, although surely people who do that must be thinking ‘this isn’t right’ at the time they’re doing it.

So before you flush anything down your sink or toilet just think where it might end up.

The answer could be not very far. Your sewer may end up blocked and then you’ll be left with a messy problem to sort out – and an expensive one at that.
