Two artists hope to whip up a storm after the launch of their latest joint exhibition at a Marsden ice cream parlour.

Local painters Carrie McKenzie and Jen Johnson will brighten up the walls of A Month of Sundaes to mark the start of their art tour for this year.

Between them they have created dozens of paintings and cards that focus on the rugged local landscape as well as the area’s wildlife and flowers.

Carrie, who is based in Halifax, said: “We’ve taken our inspiration from this stunning part of Kirklees. We’ve each got our own individual style, but we share the aim to capture colour and light in our work.”

The exhibition will also include a children’s activity leaflet to keep small visitors occupied.

“Marsden is a lovely little village and we hope that the exhibition will help make a trip to it an enjoyable day out for the family.

After the exhibition, which will run in Marsden until the end of the month, the tour will move to various venues in Calderdale before closing the year in Greater Manchester.

A Month of Sundaes is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 6.00pm, and Sunday from noon to 5.00pm.
