A development in Lindley has provided 18 much-needed homes for families.

The properties in Lindley Moor are the first affordable homes to be completed as part of a wider development of almost 300 homes. They have been constructed by housebuilder Miller Homes in partnership with Jephson Homes Housing Association.

Under a planning agreement with Kirklees Council, all of the homes have been let to people who already either live or work in the area.

The development also includes road improvements to tackle an accident and congestion trouble spot. A new roundabout built as part of the scheme has improved the flow of traffic to and from the nearby M62 motorway junction.

Miller Homes has contributed £875,000 to local schools. It has also put money in to improve bus services, including a green travel plan, and upgrade open spaces in the area.

Howard Mee, area land and planning director at Miller Homes, said: “We’re delighted to work in partnership with Jephson to develop these affordable homes.

“We’re pleased to see that the road improvements have already made a difference.”

Adrian and Lisa Doyle, who both work nearby, are among those who have already collected the keys to their new home on the site.

The final homes for rent, shared ownership and sale are to be completed in 2018.
