A LONG-SERVING founder member of a cake decorating group has retired after 23 years.

Mrs Sheila Armitage, who helped set up the British Sugarcraft Guild Huddersfield branch, stepped down at the group’s annual meeting.

The guild meets at Park Road West Community Centre in Park Road, Crosland Moor.

Mrs Armitage retired from the position of chairman.

She has previously held the positions of cygnet leader and secretary and has also served on the committee.

Branch secretary Mrs Sheila Richardson presented Mrs Armitage with an engraved pen to mark her service to the guild.

Demonstration secretary Mrs Jenny Oldroyd presented Mrs Armitage with a bouquet of flowers.

The guild, set up to promote sugarcraft as an artform, meets on the second Saturday of the month from 2pm-4.15pm. There is no meeting in August.

Visitors are welcome for just £4 per session.
