A DEDICATED group of local fundraisers have been busy again this year, raising a fantastic £9,034.54 for Dalton-based Kirkwood Hospice.
The hard-working supporters, known as ‘Dee’s Group’, are mainly based in and around the Dalton area.
They popped in to Kirkwood Hospice this week to hand over the cheque to fundraiser Gabrielle Butler and, despite the rain, were happy to pose for a photograph in the hospice grounds.
The group have had a packed schedule in 2014, organising events to raise vital funds for the hospice as well as attending a number of local fairs.
They have made jam, knitted toys, organised raffles and tombolas and even grown and sold plants and shrubs.
Hospice fundraiser Gabrielle Butler said: “Dee’s Group are amazing. They attend many events throughout the year, raising awareness and funds.
They are a vital link within this community; the amount they have raised is testament to their dedication and willingness to go the extra mile for a cause close to their hearts.”
