BRIGHOUSE pupils got the chance to plant sunflowers during a special visit to a garden centre.

The children of St Chad’s Primary School and St Joseph’s Primary School visited Kershaw’s Garden Centre to look at the different types of plants and see the resident pigs and Oggy the dinosaur.

The visit by St Chad’s followed the visit by pupils at St Joseph’s.

Children will be monitoring how tall their sunflowers grow over the coming weeks.

St Joseph’s children also learnt more about the sensory plants and how they grow.

Mark Yates, at the garden centre, said: "The rain stopped for year one who were able to get a closer look at the rare breed pigs."
