UNDERGROUND gas blasts hurled heavy manhole covers into the air in a Huddersfield street.
The explosions rocked Royd House Lane in Linthwaite and sparked a major emergency drill. Fire crews and police threw a safety cordon around the street as gas and electricity engineers worked at the scene.
