Hundreds of gay pride followers enjoyed a riotous evening on the Pink Trail yesterday and into the early hours of this morning.

Following the axing of the famous Pink Picnic in May after police began an investigation into missing funds it was decided to hold a pub/club trail instead.

Festivities began around 11am at the Queens Tavern in the Imperial Arcade and continued at The Wellington, Westgate, The Albert, at Bar Code and New Union.

The fun at The Albert included playing camp classics from the 1970s and 80s including Village People’s immortal hits In the Navy and YMCA.

The Queens boasted a Greyhound reunion party in memory of the defunct Greyhound pub on Manchester Road, a well-known gay haunt for many years.

David Spencer, who organises karaoke evenings at the Queens and the Wellington, said: “It’s been quite busy and everyone seems to have had a good time.”
