Gifted students get seal of approval at historic awards ceremony in Golcar

Nine children from Golcar Junior and Infant School gained a Knowl Bank Trust scholarship for their efforts in class

Golcar JI & N School Students stand proud with their Knowl Bank Trust scholarship awards, which they won fortheir achievements.

Gifted and industrious school pupils have been recognised in the Colne Valley.

Nine bright sparks from Golcar and Beech Junior and Infant School won Knowl Bank Trust scholarships for their performance in the classroom.

They attended a glittering assembly to receive their prizes, which included book tokens to help encourage their enthusiasm for learning.

Maxime Levasseur, Haydn Roberts and Brandon Hudson were named highest achieving children in the school, while prizes for most improvement went to: Blake Mitchell, Millie Barker-Davis, Wilfred Fletcher, Chloe Ahuchogu, Molly Baxter and Andrew Fitzpatrick.

The Knowl Bank Township Trust was set up 100 years ago to celebrate the achievements of young people in the area.

Golcar deputy head, Martin Vayro, said: “The trust still remains a valued philanthropic tradition in this part of the Colne Valley.

“We are really proud of their efforts.”
