Young legal eagles are celebrating their success in a regional competition.

The students from Greenhead College took part in the annual Bar National Mock trial competition.

A total of 13 students competed against 14 other colleges from across the region.

The event took place at the Combined Court Centre in Leeds.

The students had to role play prosecuting and defending counsel, the court clerk, usher, witnesses and the defendant in two cases.

These cases were presided over by real circuit judges.

The competition required competency in the relevant areas of criminal law - drugs possession and affray - and crown court procedure.

The students had spent at least two hours a week preparing their arguments.

The representatives from Greenhead College won both their league and the regional heat.

At the end of March they will compete in Edinburgh in the national final.
