CHILDREN are dancing for joy after bagging a place in the finals of a national competition.

Groups from Attitude Academy, based at Skelmanthorpe Youth and Community Centre, won the regional heat of the Festival4Stars talent contest.

They wowed the judges with their great energy and scooped first place in the group dance section.

The talented children will now battle it out against other groups in the grand finals, which takes place at Bridlington Spa Theatre on June 5.

They hope to beat dancers from across the UK to be crowned this year’s national champions.

The company has academies based in Huddersfield, Wakefield and Normanton.

Teachers work with over 100 children aged three to 17 as well as offering dance classes.

A spokesperson for the Academy said: “We are so proud of all the groups that performed at the Festival4Stars and it showed that all their hard work and commitment has paid off.

“Our main ethos is to give young people opportunities within the dance world and provide them with technical training and fitness”.
