Hade Edge Band has been celebrating after winning the Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival.

The band scooped ‘Winning Band of the Contest’ as well as three other trophies at the festival which took place at the Green Dragon Inn, Hawes, in the Yorkshire Dales, on September 13.

Bands from across Yorkshire and Humberside competed at the festival, run by the pub landlord Mark Thompson.

Hade Edge Band, which rehearses at the Edgar Dickinson Building, Greave Road, also won ‘Best Entertaining Band of the Contest’, ‘Best Band playing an Original Piece of Music’ and ‘Winning Conductor of the Contest’ for band conductor Jonathan Beatty.

Band chairman Robert Turnbull said: “It was a brilliant result for the conductor and all the players.”

A fundraising evening for Hade Edge Band, with a guest appearance from Jonathan Bates of the Black Dyke Band, takes place at The Carding Shed, Hepworth, on September 28 (6.30pm).
