Pupils scaled heights and did their bit for the community. And they were rewarded with a top accolade.

Hipperholme Grammar School pupils, right, have passed various stages of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards under supervision of head of Geography Richard Griffiths, who said: “The success of the scheme is attributable to the high percentage of pupils who take up the Award and the enthusiasm of staff who help with its smooth running.”

Pupils receiving bronze awards were: Sophie Smith, Isabel Stirk, Jonathan Carr, Abigail Phillips, Phoebe Smith, Oliver Spear, Emma Parker, Katherine Green, Callum Mawer, Kloe Wilkinson, Harriet Beaumont, Anna Russell, Lee Baldwin, Arrandeep Gill, Ebony Nothers, Olivia Parkinson, Grace Mcandrew, Laura Fisher, Catherine Lathom-Sharp, Paul Davis, Anna Craig, Lydia Chin and Sophie Doherty. Daniel Gallagher received his Silver Award and helped give a presentation about a mountain bike expedition, undertaken with a scout group. Bronze Awards have also been achieved by James Brezinski, Henry Carter, Holly Marshall, Anna Craig, Haashim Akhtar, Sophie Godlington, Helen Brown, Emily Haigh-Jacobs and Ellie Foggo.
