ART students from Hipperholme Grammar School have work in the National Art Competition 2012.

The Independent Schools’ Association run the event for art, textiles, drawing and design students.

Head of Art, Alison Rees said: "There was a record number of entries and the standard was astoundingly high. It was therefore all the more impressive that our Year 11 student Natalie Angus won first prize for her 3D sculpture inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinsky."

Among other winners were Helen Brown, Lorna Butterfield, Catherine Lathom-Sharpe and Sophie Doherty who won prizes in the group textiles category.

Year 10 student Sophie Godlington’s silk painting entitled ‘Exotic Beasts’ took third prize. Year 8’s Lily Ramsey was awarded third prize for her ceramic tile.
