LEGAL advice is being taken over the bid to set up a post office branch in Shelley Village Hall.
The long established post office in the village closed down last year and now the Shelley Community Association wants to run a part-time branch for just nine hours a week.
Members of the association say that no stock would be kept on the village hall premises and the room would be used by others hirers for the rest of the week.
But now Kirkburton Parish Council has decided to engage a solicitor and is to take professional advice on whether or not planning permission is necessary for the project.
An article in the current Shelley Magazine says: “This is not only costly to the council taxpayers, but may delay the opening of the new post office.
“Post offices in village/church halls are commonplace and it is hoped that common sense and public pressure will prevail.”
