THERE is clearly no dip in the popularity of Girl Guiding in Holmfirth, where the popularity of Rainbows has led to the creation of a new group.

The first Rainbows unit, which is for five to seven-year-olds, was so oversubscribed that there was little hope for many on the long waiting list.

Organiser Lisa Colwill said the new group gathered on Monday to make the Guides’ promise – to do their best to be kind and helpful.

Lisa said: “The popularity of the group shows that Guiding is by no means fading – we actually need new leaders.”

Two leaders and a young leader also made the promise along with the 13 Rainbows.
