THE ACCLAIMED international opera star Lesley Garrett will top the bill at a Huddersfield Town Hall concert later this year.

Tickets are now on sale for Honley Male Voice Choir’s 75th anniversary gala concert on Saturday, September 24.

It promises to be an exciting night for the choir, supporters and former musical director Alan Jenkins, inset, left, who is arranging all the music for the concert.

Alan has returned to the choir temporarily while the search goes on for a successor to Keith Roberts who regrettably has left after two-and-a-half years in charge due to pressure of work as musical director of the Leeds Catholic Diocese.

Keith bowed out on a high, having been adjudged the best conductor at the Cornish International Male Voice Choir festival in Truro at the end of April where the choir acquitted itself well, though not finishing among the prizewinners.

The choir is now rehearsing for the concert in which Lesley Garrett will not only sing in two 20 minute solo spots but will accompany the choir in several show numbers arranged by Alan.
