MUSICIANS hope to raise cash for Kirkwood Hospice in a fundraising concert at St Mary’s Church, Honley, on Saturday, April 6 (from 7pm).

The gig, organised by Tony Washington of Taylors Foodstore, Honley, includes performances from Honley Male Voice Choir, Honley Ladies’ Choir, Honley Saxophone Choir and Nytebeat Swing Band.

There will also be performances from classical guitarists Peter Batchelar and Rebecca Crosby, jazz duo Julie Edwards and Kevin Dearden, clarinet and piano duo Jennifer Hewitt and Elizabeth Stacey and recorder virtuoso Jill Kemp and Raised Voices, directed by Jess Baker.

The concert is the first of Mr Washington’s fundraisers for Kirkwood Hospice, this year.

He said: “It is also a super opportunity to witness some very talented musicians along with enthusiastic recent arrivals to the music world.

“I am hoping to reach my 2013 target figure of £3,000 for the benefit of Kirkwood Hospice and this is a splendid springboard towards that aim as a collection will be made during the performance.”

The event is free but guests will be expected to make donations to Kirkwood Hospice on the night.

Tickets are available from Taylors Foodstore, on Meltham Road, Honley.
