Hospital staff put the kettle on to give a cancer charity a boost.

The members of the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary held a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Staff sold cakes, buns and biscuits as well as organising tombolas and raffles.

They raised more than £300 through their efforts as part of the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Patients and staff from the Macmillan Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital also joined in the fun and raised over £1,500.

Lead cancer nurse Alison Harwood commented: “The staff at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust are always happy to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

“The coffee morning is the perfect opportunity to raise money and also highlight local services which provide treatment, information and support to anyone affected by cancer.

“Over the last four years the coffee morning has gone from strength to strength.

“It is great to see the enthusiasm from both staff and the general public each year which helps to make this event such a success.”

The annual fundraiser held around the country has so far raised more than £75 million to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
