VERY many years ago one of the teachers at Greenhead High School used to remark that the trouble with common sense was that it was not so common.

I am reminded of this whenever I watch The Apprentice. The self-styled candidates appear, in the main, to be the product of a privileged modern-day university education. They don’t live in the real world.

No doubt these whiz-kids would have benefited from a more down-to-earth education, as advocated by Ashley Jackson (Senior Moment, Examiner April 11).
