OOPS!
Bad luck for this driver today who managed to get his van stuck up Miry Lane in Netherthong.
Villager Steve Cook said: “They are just following their Sat Navs but I do wonder why they think they can get up or down it when they look at it.”
A recovery team helped it to get out but Mr Cook now wants signs to be placed at either end of the lane to deter HGV drivers.
M1
Reports of two lanes blocked and very slow traffic due to accident on M1 Southbound between J41 A650 (Carrgate) and J40 A638 (Ossett / Wakefield), congestion to J42 M62 (Lofthouse).

We have been informed that the lady found hanging on Bradford Road on Friday morning passed away on Saturday at Leeds General Infirmary from her injuries. She has been named as 35-year-old Silva Parden-Bell, of no fixed abode. The case has been handed over to the coroner’s office.

A woman who was found hanging next to a main round in Huddersfield has died.
The 35-year-old was discovered at 6.30am on Friday near the Broadway Hair Salon in Bradford Road, close to the Slubbers Arms.

Sadly police said she lost her fight for life over the weekend.
Local News:
Police say they have now ruled out arson following a fire outside a family’s home in Neale Road, Lockwood.
Originally it was thought rubbish had been deliberately piled up outside the home and then ignited in the early hours of Sunday.
But today Det Insp Steph Wiseman said the cause of the blaze was ‘accidental ignition’ following a cigarette being discarded.
Three people in the house managed to get out without any injury while five neighbours were evacuated because of smoke.
Almondbury councillor Bernard William McGuin needs some help.
He was on the B.A. Humanities course from 1976 to 1979 and in September it will be the 40th anniversary of the start of the course.
He is helping organise a reunion in Huddersfield at The Albert.
Bernard said: “Most of the people who are coming live in the Midlands and the North of England. Ironically we are having problems locating people from Huddersfield.
“We are finding it hard to locate Steve Slade, Bill Hartley and John Bentley. Ironically a former Liberal councillor, Elaine Whitaker was on the same course and year as me.
“She may have migrated to Spain a few years ago. People are coming up on Friday, 9 September, and I am trying to organise a room and buffet in the town centre for the Saturday night. I would be grateful if you could publicise my quest to find these people. At the moment around 20 are coming.

Traffic
Happily traffic is now easing on the M62 following the earlier problems heading east from Huddersfield.
A broken down vehicle between junction 26 (Chain Bar) and junction 27 (Gildersome) had left one lane blocked, leading to congestion stretching back beyond junction 24 (Ainley Top).
There were also reports of an accident in the queue.
But all lanes have now been cleared.
