A beautiful motor up in flames

A Mercedes super-car has been damaged by fire in Deighton this afternoon.

The powerful C43 AMG, worth in the region of £50,000, was being given a pre-delivery test drive by a member of the Mercedes-Benz dealership when a suspected electrical fault caused a fire which caused extensive damage. No-one was hurt.

Missing man

Have you seen missing Granville? Police say he has connections with the Kirklees and Calderdale areas.

Mr Muir has been described as often appearing confused and walking with a limp.

He is about six feet tall and is believed to be wearing blue clothing, possibly a cardigan.

It is thought he may have got on a bus heading in the direction of Bradford or Kirklees.

More M62 trouble... One lane on the westbound carriage is closed due to a broken down vehicle between J28 for Tingley and J27 for the M621.

“A real Terrier-like performance” - here’s what Huddersfield Town fans had to say about Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford.

The victory was Town’s first opening day triumph since 2010 when they beat Notts County 3-0 at Meadow Lane.

Stabbing in town: update

Police say two men arrested following a stabbing in town this weekend have now been bailed.

The two, aged 22 and 23, were questionned after two 16-year-old boys suffered stab wounds outside Huddersfield Parish Church in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The teenagers were taken to hospital and have since been released.

The men arrested will have to answer bail next month.

Missing young woman

A “vulnerable” young Kirklees woman has gone missing after a night out in Leeds over the weekend.

Alisha Wyatt, 24, was last seen in the Stonegate area in the early hours of yesterday morning.

She is described as black, 5ft 3ins tall, with short dyed burgundy/red afro Caribbean hair, wearing a brown rusty coloured knee length dress, carrying a gold clutch bag. She is known to have contacts in the Batley and Spen area.

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson of Leeds District CID, said: “Alisha is a vulnerable young woman and we are very concerned for her welfare.

“Police enquiries are ongoing in Leeds and Kirklees and I would ask Alisha or anyone who has information about her whereabouts to contact Leeds District CID on 101.

“Anyone who contacts us should say they are ringing regarding police log number 0459 of August 7.”

We had one lane closed on the M62 westbound due to a broken down vehicle between junction 27 for the M621 and 26 at Chain Bar. Just to let know that has now re-opened and traffic is moving as normal.

Road police tweeted these images after two vehicles were caught speeding 100mph on the M62 over the weekend.

Attempted robbery at Kilner Bank

A teenager was left terrified after two men in balaclavas tried to rob her as she walked along Kilner Bank last night.

Luckily the 19-year-old managed to escape unharmed.

Det Insp Stef Wiseman of Kirklees CID said: “As she was walking down the steps in a wooded area at 6pm on Sunday she was approached by two men who wore dark clothing and balaclavas. One of them wore gloves.
“They tried to take her handbag from off her shoulder but she ran out onto the main road and they ran off.
“This was a horrible attempt robbery and very unpleasant indeed. Any witnesses should ring 101.”

Yorkshire Ambulance Service

This shocking story reveals how critical our health service is right: A report reveals an ambulance took three and a half HOURS to reach a life-threatening emergency in Huddersfield town centre last year.

The ambulance was responding to a ‘Red 2’ emergency call in May last year, according to figures which reveal the extent to which Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is leaving critically ill patients waiting.

Man attacked on New North Road

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an assault on New North Road.

The 36-year-old male victim was assaulted near Norfolk Close by another man described as Asian and in his 20s.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and needed hospital treatment after the attack, which took place on Tuesday evening at 5.15pm.

Detective Constable Carla Senior of Kirklees CID said; “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around New North Road and Norfolk Close on Tuesday evening and may have witnessed the assault or who has any information to come forward.

“Information can be passed to myself at Huddersfield CID on 101, or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
