Paul Nocton took the Sunday service. He talked to the children about everyday items such as paper and pens – unimportant, we might think, but also useful and necessary. 1 Corinthians 1 v 26-28 was read to show that ‘ordinary’ people like ‘ordinary’ things are the things that God chooses. To the older congregation, when the young people had gone into Sunday School, Paul read 1 Samuel 21 v 10-12 – David fleeing from Saul – and then being recognised in Gath. David was afraid for his life but, feigning insanity, was set free. He wrote Psalm 56 when he prayed to God for mercy. The speaker next week will be Beryl Holt of Clayton West. The service will be held in the school room as the improvements to the church will have started. The Harvest Festival will be held on Sunday October 10 at 10.30am. Dry and tinned goods will be collected for CART.
