SOMEHOW you just couldn’t see the likes of Posh Spice doing this, but the wives and girlfriends of Huddersfield Giants players are aiming to go way outside their comfort zones to raise money for charity.
While their menfolk try to reach the pinnacle of the Super League they will be climbing Ben Nevis to raise money for the aspirational Life For A Kid Foundation which helps children aged under 16 to lead improved lives by providing funds and equipment.
The partners of players from the other 13 Super League are also taking part in the huge effort. In Huddersfield the ‘Wags’ are not only walking but have organised a family fun day too.
At a time when top sport is seen as becoming more and more remote from the fans it’s heartwarming to see that rugby league – especially the Giants – remain deeply rooted with their communities ... and their fans.
