A social club has welcomed a new president.
The title was officially handed to Allan Hawe at the annual general meeting of Huddersfield Pennine Probus Club.
Mr Hawe, who lives in Birkby, is a longstanding member of the club.
He recently celebrated his diamond wedding with his wife Mary and helps run a holiday club for local people.
Mr Hawe replaces retiring president Alan Buck, of Lindley.
John Daniel also gave a talk at the meeting at Oakes Baptist Church.
The Salendine Nook historian talked about the Holmfirth flood of 1852.
The flood occurred when the embankment of the Bilberry reservoir collapsed, killing 81 people.
The group’s next meeting is on Tuesday, September 24, at 10.30am.
Then Trevor Moody will be speaking about Tyntesfield, a Victorian Gothic estate based in Somerset.
Visitors are always welcome to the club’s meetings.
