IT IS a charity event that has put a smile on people’s faces for the last couple of years.

And now the Santa Dash, organised by Huddersfield Lions, has given the town something else to smile about.

For this year’s event, which saw 239 dashing round a mile-long section of Huddersfield town centre has raised a record busting £16,116 – and the cash is still flooding in.

The money raised will go to local and national charities.

Hopefully the sight of hundreds of Santas charging their way around the town is one that will run and run.

For this brilliant idea not only brings out runners wanting to have a bit of fun but fills the streets with families urging them on.

What better start to Christmas could we ask for? Well done everyone.
