A Cowlersley pensioner died after a fall on steps in her garden.

Hilda Gaunt, 86, of Southern Road, died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on May 5.

A Huddersfield inquest yesterday heard Mrs Gaunt, who suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure, had been pottering in her garden and fell down concrete steps.

Her daughter Sheila rushed to help and seeing she was unconscious phoned an ambulance.

A scan revealed she had suffered a serious head injury.

She died the following day.

Assistant Deputy Coroner Tim Ratcliffe recorded she died as a result of an accident.
