Huddersfield Railway Station needs new platform – plea to Government from council
Hm a new platform? How many of the current platforms stand empty for much of the time. How will another platform help with overcrowded trains? What’s needed is more trains and / or more carriages on the current trains? I have no problem with another platform if all the current ones are used to capacity....but will they be?
I advocate more spending and investment in public transport on a massive level both for the transport of passengers and freight to alleviate heavy road usage. To attract customers to public transport the quality of service and pricing structure has to be vastly improved. New railway stations should be opened. This country has had a poor railway system for many decades and given the economic situation, investment for jobs in this sector will pay a good long term dividend in the quality of public life.

I'm glad I don't use trains any longer. The thought of travelling cattle-class morning and night fills me with dread!
If the upgrades are equalled with more seats for passengers then it'll be a great modernisation but I doubt that the train companies will put more carriages on when they can still make massive profits from passengers stood up and crammed in!
