KIRKBURTON Parish Council has awarded its final community grant of £2,500 to the Shepley Village Association.

The group is busy organising a visit by the Hungarian Aurin Choir and activities planned for the visit will involve local schools, bands and choirs.

Parish council chairman Clr Geof Hickey said: “This looks to be a great time coming up in Shepley and I’m sure a lot of the children involved will already be getting excited.

“It’s great that the council can play its part and help with some of the funding for the visit. I would like to wish the committee every success with this event and hope that everyone has a super time.”

Kirkburton Parish Council awarded a total of £21,551 during the last financial year, which ended on March 31 2009.
