I LIKED Graham Porter’s article on Brussels sprouts (Saturday November 17) and anything that helps to promote the qualities of this brassica can only be a good thing.

However, the sample of sprouts shown in the picture did not in my view do anything to enhance this vegetable. They looked a tired pathetic sample and whoever took the photograph must have had them kicking about for a week or more.

Fresh Brussels sprouts should look as Graham Porter says in his article, dark green and fresh looking, in fact fresh looking enough to want to eat them now.

So please in future, to help promote fresh vegetables do not show pictures of vegetables that look as motley as this particular sample did and find some that are fresh and do look good enough to eat now.
