An inquest into the death of hero soldier Pte Tom Wroe will be held next month.

The inquiry into the death of Pte Wroe, 18, from Meltham, will be held at Oxford Coroner’s Court, on September 5.

Pte Wroe was shot dead by a rogue Afghan policeman at Checkpoint Tora, in Nahr-e Saraj, Afghanistan, on September 15, last year.

He died alongside Sgt Gareth Thursby when the pair went to assist an apparently injured man dressed in an Afghan police uniform.

Pte Wroe and Sgt Thursby, of Skipton, were repatriated with full military honours at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, on September 20.

Pte Wroe, the son of former soldier Mick Wroe, was serving with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regt on the front line. He was deployed to Afghanistan just four days after his 18th birthday.
