POLE MOOR Riding Club held their Children's Show last Sunday (Sunday June 28) at Bolster Moor – by kind permission of farmer Chris Haigh.

Although the day started cool, the sun shone brightly later on, to match the youngsters’ happy smiles!

There were many entries and the ponies were so well turned out, looking smart with glossy coats, oiled hooves and clean tack.

They were a credit to their young riders, as guest judges Alison Pickering from Meltham and Sarah Moxon from Milnsbridge agreed.

The youngest rider was only aged two-and- a-half, named Maddie Eastwood and she enjoyed herself immensely.

There were a variety of classes to suit all abilities, including equitation, bonny pony, best mane and tail, fancy-dress, handy pony, gymkhanas and a good variety of jumping classes – from beginners lead-rein jumping to the very popular 'Chase-me-Charlie' high jump competition, where the jump goes higher and higher, which made the spectators hold their breath, then cheer and clap, with excitement as Ted, the small brave pony ridden by Alice Redman, from Scapegoat Hill, beat all his rivals, by almost flying.

The club has many activities planned for the summer, with the big Annual Show on September 13 beside 'The Jack O'Mitre' pub at Pole Moor, who are the sponsors of Pole Moor Riding Club.

Check out the website www.polemoorridingclub.co.uk for details on how to join and to details of future events.
