King James's School in Almondbury recently held its annual presentation evening.

The event which celebrated the successes of both current and former students, was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Kirklees and guest of honour, Anton McGrath, Principal of Greenhead College.

Prizes were awarded for academic excellence, sporting endeavour and a variety of achievements. These included:

Dartmouth Medal - awarded to Bethany Smith ( the student who has made the greatest contribution to the school both in terms of academic progress and other achievements).

Reliance Precision Prize for Highest Academic Achievement & Morris Cup - awarded to Emma Donkersley (the highest set of GCSE results).

Jack Taylor Prize for Highest Academic Achievement - awarded to Alice Clayphan-Taylor and Leo Haigh (two other students who have achieved an outstanding sets of results).

Patrick O'Brien Prize for Achievement in the English Baccalaureate - awarded to Georgina Parry (the highest set of results in English, Maths, Science, Modern Foreign Language and Humanity).
