IT is arguably the most iconic landmark Huddersfield can boast.

Castle Hill and Victoria Tower which sits upon it is a landmark which should be preserved and protected.

Now plans are underway to fund an archeological survey to discover its hidden secrets.

A scientific survey which involves an in-depth forensic examination will cost £5,000 before a spade has even been dug.

But with advances in technology, maybe now it the right time to find out exactly what, if any, gems are hidden below the hill which dates back 4,000 years.
