TALKING about illness is something that many people find difficult.
But in doing just that, retired Huddersfield University lecturer Tony Garrood has doubtless helped many others.
Tony, 64, was diagnosed four years ago with Alzheimer’s, a form of dementia. He is now backing an NHS campaign to raise awareness of the illness and to encourage people to seek advice if they feel they have symptoms.
Tony did just that and now takes medication for his condition. He leads an active lifestyle, walking, cycling, swimming and visiting the gym.
His positive attitude and selflessness in speaking out will be an inspiration to others.
