AS yet another application is submitted for a wind turbine in a rural area is it now time for some formal guidelines?

Outlane is the latest village which could soon see a wind turbine installed.

It joins the list with Birdsedge and Grange Moor where residents are currently fighting the plans.

And even though planning officers deal with each application separately, is it now not time that some firm guidelines are set as to how many the council would be prepared to allow in our town.

Wind turbines have long been a source of controversy – even with Kirklees Council themselves who installed their own wind turbine which didn’t quite live up to expectations.

It’s likely more applications will follow these three, but first it should be time for an open debate about their effectiveness before they are signed off by a planning committee.
