THEY are two of the region’s biggest arts organisations.

Leeds-based Opera North and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at Bretton.

Both provide high quality work which is seen by thousands of people across the region and which also brings visitors to the area.

It can only be good news that these two nationally acclaimed organisations, rooted in Yorkshire, are to combine their skills in a series of musical events.

Based on the four seasons, the series will bring together music, arts and poetry.

The two organisations say they have wanted to work together for some time but have only now hit on a project which they feel is right for both sculpture park and opera company.

It may in part be due to the fact that in the last year, the YSP has opened up some spaces which have the public have not previously been able to access.

Certainly opening spaces such as the chapel at YSP has provided an opportunity to breathe new life into an old building and to give people a chance to experience music and landscape in fresh and interesting ways.

A venture to be applauded.
