Helping in Schools, a popular accredited course for parents and voluntary helpers in primary schools, is returning to the Almondbury area, run by the Workers’ Educational Association.

It is designed for volunteers in primary schools, for parents interested in how schools work and how children learn, and for people who think they might be interested in support work in schools.

The WEA is now inviting applications for places on its course to be held at Almondbury High School starting October 10. It will be held on one day a week – Thursdays – for 14 weeks, from 9.30 am to 3pm with a lunch break.

There are no meetings during school holidays. During the course users will be expected to help as a volunteer in a primary school for at least two hours a week.

They will have the chance to gain the NCFE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
