THEY have had a hugely successful year.

Now members of Lindley Junior School Choir are hoping to shine into 2013 – and they would like some help.

The award-winning group is looking for new members to join its community choir.

Launched in 2011, the intergenerational strand welcomes people of all ages.

It was formed after the school decided to use a grant to form a singing group spanning the generations.

The choir is open to everyone, from children to grandparents.

Last year’s group included three generations from the same family.

It is directed by Alison North, leader of the original junior school choir.

The choir, which has 60 members, were this year named Children’s Choir of the Year 2012.

The choir then went on to compete against the best choirs in the country at the Royal Festival Hall in London in October.

No auditions are held for the community choir.

All that is required is a love of singing and lots of enthusiasm.

Rehearsals start on January 7 at the school on George Street from 5.45pm.

The group will rehearse for seven sessions before performing at the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival in Huddersfield Town Hall.

The choir will also sing in a charity concert.
