Two Huddersfield locals have reached the final rounds of TalkTalk's national competition to crown the nation's top digital heroes - and they need your vote.

The telecommunications company created the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards to celebrate individuals making a difference in their local communities.

There are 10 shortlisted winners to be chosen from 10 different categories, including volunteering and employment, who will be selected via a public vote - voting is open until 8 September 2015.

Each winner will walk away with a £5,000 cash prize to help boost their project.

Kim Reuter and Craig Grimes, both from Leeds, have reached the finals in their categories and need your support to win.

Kim's work with Yorkshire-based charity Shabang! Inclusive Learning, which creates an accessible and quirky digital resources for children with additional learning needs, has been nominated for the Education Award.

So far the project has put together a film to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day and developed a tablet-friendly app to help engage kids with additional learning needs.

Kim explained what winning the award would mean. She said "We are particularly interested in creating an interactive educational app which children with additional learning needs can use on tablets and iPads.

"It will be be designed to be used in schools, families and support groups."

Craig Grimes has been nominated for the Healthy Living Award for his work with Experience Community.

As a disabled person, Craig knows all too well the major issues facing disabled people trying to access leisure and tourism attractions in the countryside.

His organisation aids a wide cross section of disabled people to access local tourism by setting up group nature walks and rambling routes that utilise digital media tools like videos and interactive maps to creating informative films.

Craig states, "Whether it be our website, social media or apps provided by other organisations, digital technology is essential to the success of our work."

Winning the award and prize money would help Craig and his team develop a new website, making it more interactive so members can upload and share their own walking routes, videos and pictures with a wider community.
