A MAD hatter’s tea party served up Fairtrade treats.

Children from schools around the Holme Valley arrived at St David’s Church Hall, Holmbridge, wearing homemade hats.

The event was organised by Holme Valley Fairtrade Support Group as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Organiser Elizabeth Bounds said: “The children have done us proud and it has been a really fun event.

“It’s nice to have a local link to Fairtrade.

“There were some great hats, like a fairy cake hat, a metre-tall hat, a Simpsons hat, an X Factor hat and a tiered wedding cake hat.”

Holmfirth fashion designer Laura Queening picked out the five best hats.

The group enjoyed Fairtrade tea and cakes and the money raised will go towards helping leprosy patients abroad.
