Marsden's community cinema is preparing for its second season of film nights.

The Ginger Bread House Presents ... enjoyed great success with the launch of its film and food nights last year.

The nights, held at Marsden’s Musical Institute, are back by popular demand.

Season Two is being launched in October.

The Marsden-based social enterprise The Ginger Bread House Presents ... will serve a two-course evening meal inspired by that month’s film.

Spokesman Zana Wood said: “We promote local suppliers and fill a cultural gap which existing cinemas do not offer.”

The group will continue its support of local film makers by screening a short film prior to the main screening at Film and Food.

October also sees the launch of The Electric Theatre Club, a membership-based film club screening films every six weeks and will launch the first event with Sightseers on October 24.

“We aim to show a wider range of films than you would see locally without having to travel to Leeds or Manchester,” said Zana.

“We hope it will be as successful as Film and Food.”

The forthcoming Film and Food nights are: October 5, Belleville Rendez-Vous (Les triplettes de Belleville) directed by Sylvain Chomet (2003); November 16, O Brother, Where Art Thou? directed by Joel Coen (2000); December 7, Delicatessen directed by Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (1991); and January 18, Searching for Sugar Man directed by Malik Bendjelloul (2012).
