A poet from Marsh has released his debut collection of poems.

Night-Watch Man & Muse is Mark Murphy’s first full length poetry collection.

The former Honley High School pupil battled alcoholism and depression before turning his life around in 2004.

He studied a Masters in Poetry at Huddersfield University and his work has since featured in over 100 publications around the world.

Mark also created and edits online poetry journal POETiCA.

His first collection is published by Salmon Poetry which is one of Ireland’s largest poetry houses.

Publisher Chris Emery said: “Murphy’s serious sense of rapture with the world pervades this excellent debut collection.

“(It is) filled with emotional and sexual drive as well as a spiritual restlessness – something that strikes an alternative note as it abandons more familiar territories for its edgy philosophical road trip.”
