PLANS for the future of Greenhead Park are to be debated at a public meeting next month.

The Friends of Greenhead Park community group will hold the meeting next Tuesday at the Kirklees Council maintenance depot at the park, near the Park Drive and Gledholt Road junction. At the meeting, which starts at 6pm, members of the group and the public will discuss the future developments of the park, who its likely users will be and maintenance issues.

Kirklees Council is drawing up multi-million pound plans for restoring the park to its former glory. An ornamental lake has been approved. It will be near Park Drive, where a lake is believed to have been filled in the 1950s. Other plans include restoring the conservatory, replacing iron railings around the perimeter and forming a children’s play area. The Friends of Greenhead Park will also have its AGM. The group protects the welfare of the park and promotes future initiatives.
