MIRFIELD will become a magnet for morris dancing fans as part of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Morris dancing groups will take part in a day-long Festival of Dance on June 9.

The event, organised by Mayor of Mirfield David Pinder, is part of the town’s Diamond Jubilee fun.

Morris dancers will perform at several pubs and other locations from 11am, being transported between venues by bus or barge.

The day will culminate with a show at St Paul’s Church at 4pm when the audience will choose the best dancers.

BBC Look North presenter Christa Ackroyd will be compere at the event.

A dozen Morris groups have confirmed so far but other dancing troupes are welcome.

Anyone interested should contact Clr Pinder on 01924 496942.
