CANNABIS-smoking vandals have brought a shocking lesson to youngsters at a rural Huddersfield school.

The fact that they have been causing criminal damage at Highburton First School proves that antisocial misery can be wrought anywhere these days.

Shocked pupils can’t understand why vandals should target their school, smashing glass and ripping up flowers and vegetables they planted.

It’s a devastating insight into the real world for them at such a tender age.

In the past the police may have labelled this as low level crime.

Obviously police resources are limited, but officers from Neighbourhood Policing Teams now know the impact this kind of yobbish, antisocial behaviour can have on victims’ lives.

It’s all about quality of life and feeling safe on your streets, in your home and at school.

It’s a shame these youngsters have experienced that even before they have reached junior school.

Sadly many others across Huddersfield – both young and old – suffer it too and will know how they feel.
