Holmfirth will be having a laugh on Saturday September 13 (8.30pm) when the Gonzo Comedy Club opens at Gonzo Bar, Dunford Road.

The club is the brainchild of Ian Seaburn, who used to tour the world as a member of the goth rock band Rhombus.

But Ian had a funny turn and switched career to become a stand-up comedian 18 months ago.

Ian said: “We’d been looking for a place to start our own comedy club night for some time, and in Gonzo we found not only a great room, but a very supportive owner in Luke who has been giving us a huge amount of support and encouragement. The beer is very good too.

“And for those weary of rowdy stand-up comedy nights, I promise that the Gonzo’s are much more relaxed and the comics will not pick on members of the audience too much.”

Tickets are £4 on the door and £3.50 for mailing list members.
