A state-of-the-art school is to be built in Bradley.

As reported previously , All Saints Catholic College is to be completely rebuilt on the existing site on Bradley Road.

But although there is still a long road ahead, this artist’s impression has been provided by Education for Funding as a possible design being floated for the new school.

The building will be purpose designed and include a four-court sports hall, drama studio and other specialist rooms.

And to minimise disruption to students, staff and parents the old school building will not be demolished until the new building is completed in Autumn 2016.

Head Teacher Anita Bodurka said in a statement to pupils: “The most exciting development for us here at All Saints is the plan to build a new school here on our site which is due to open in the Autumn Term 2016.

“The school will be built for education in the 21st century.

“For those of you planning to come to All Saints, the fantastic thing is that the new build will be developed whilst the rest of the school continues to function in our current buildings.”

She added: “There will be no portable buildings. We will move into the new build when it is ready, before the old school is demolished.”

Kirklees Council’s Labour Cabinet agreed to submit a bid worth 40m on behalf of the five Kirklees schools back in October but criticised the scrapping of the 55bn Building Schools for the Future (BSF) which would have brought £300m of investment into schools in Kirklees.

All Saints is one three schools in Kirklees to be built under the Priority Building School Programme.

The others are Mount Pleasant Junior Infant and Nursery School in Lockwood and Whitcliffe Mount Business and Enterprise College in Cleckheaton, which have been approved for major funding.
