Building work at Ashbrow School to create four new classrooms has finished.

And the school will now be able to offer pupils more after-school clubs.

Work began in May last year at the school in Ashbrow Road to create four additional classrooms, associated toilets and a hard play surface.

Building work inthe Infant building was completed in July with the the work in juniors had been earmarked for August.

But delays to the project meant the finishing touches to the plans were completed before the Christmas break.

The school told parents before the Christmas holidays: “As soon as the building work has been completed inside and outside we will be able to start up more clubs. We will do our best to give everyone the opportunity to take part in an after school club, so please sit down with your child and choose carefully. We will endeavour to accommodate as many as possible, but may have to offer an alternative or a waiting list if

inundated with requests.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding. The work should be complete by half term and we will have a much improved learning environment.”

Ashbrow School is one of four in Kirklees - including another in Birkby - to be benefitting from extra classrooms.

From this September the school with capacity rising from 45 to 60 for the new intake.
