Nathaniel Stock is a champion runner.

The 15-year-old student is in his last year at Newsome High School and Sports College.

His idol is Olympic Champion Mo Farrah.

Proud mum Kimberley said: “His passion started when he was 10 years old at Crosland Moor Junior School, when he was entered into a Kirklees schools cross-country race.

“He enjoyed running so much that he joined a local athletics club known as Longwood Harriers and has since been regularly entering competitively in both track and field and cross-country initially and has come along leaps and bounds and has over the last two years progressed significantly in long distance running, which has become his forte.

“While he still competes in track and field events for Longwood Harriers, he regularly runs at the local Huddersfield 5k Parkrun, a timed weekly event held at Greenhead Park, where his runs started at 26mins.”

Nathaniel has now become the fastest junior with his personal best now standing at 17:26 and has won Junior points table twice.

He has won the last year or so, Longwood’s Point to Point Race, Junior Road Race and Winter Handicap Run too and then during last year he started competing in 10ks.

Nathaniel’s first 10km run was the local Longwood Harrier, organised Joe Percy 10k in May 2013, where he finished 82nd with a time of 42:06.

He has since done Salford 10k, being placed 130 at 40:52; The Great Yorkshire Run placed 86th at 40:02; Bolsover 10k placed 79th at 39:50 and Bradford City Runs 10k, placed 7th overall at 38:54, and was 1st Junior in his age group where he won a £20 prize.

This year he has already completed the Dewsbury 10k and has now attained position of 15th in the UK’s under-17 10k rankings for this year.
